Do you think I was out of order

I was in my regular pub saturday night.
There are three types of people who go in this pub on saturdays - the pool players, the people who go to watch the live bands (always the same faces) and random assorted groups who turn up for an hour or two, then leave for somewhere else.

It was one of the latter, a man who was very drunk, trying to dance with all the women, trying to spin them round by the hand, but being so drunk that he nearly fell over, taking them with him.
He tried this with my wife, this didn't bother me, as she can look after herself, but it does bother her.

Anyway, about midnight, he sat on the stool next to me and fell asleep/passed out.

I alerted one of the security staff, who escorted him out.

Should I have done this? - a woman sitting nearby had a go at me about this, but IMO a grown man should know better than to get this drunk, and if the landlord or other staff had seen him, they would have informed the security staff anyway.

You were not out of order at all.People who get that drunk can be quite scary.Im fed up of going into a pub with friends only to have someone bumping into me,knocking me over or worse still, knocking my pint over.

he got off lightly if you ask me, In my pub he would have walked out with new moustache, one eyebrow and writing on his forehead

If you hadnt reported him then security wouldve noticed eventually. Or someone like 4get :)

You did the right thing.
Someone who has passed out through alcohol has a high chance of choking on their vomit, the doorman would have put this chap in a taxi which would have seen him home safe + sound.
It might sound silly, but you may have saved this fellow's life :-)

as if they would they'd have just kicked him out. I was found passed out one night in the toilets and the bouncer someone that knew me took me outside and propped me up on windowsill.

lol yes, I was about to comment on the "doorman putting you in a taxi" comment. The majority I've seen would just dump him/her on the pavement well away from the pub entrance, dust their hands off and go back to the doorway not giving the offending drunk another thought.

And i'd also like to know how this drunk didn't fall off the stool when he fell asleep- that's some party trick!

but then how drunk do they have to be to not wake up through all the laughter as someones drawing on their face and having pictures taken. Although my last culprit had a nose bleed. And as for taxi, most taxi drivers wont take drunk people in cab in fear of them being sick

How come? Was he likely to have one of those dreams that involves karate kicks and a kung fu chop, or was he mumbling obscenities about dirty dancing with your wife in some fantastical dream? Or was just drooling into your pint?

It seems like he narked you at the beginning of the eve and you took the opportunity presented, but I don�t see how it could have been �out of order�. Maybe you should have just made a loud noise to wake him up jumping and screaming or summink.

I think it's fine that you alerted someone- he is in no position to look after himself. If you just ignored him all night he could have been dead/choked on vomit etc, and would the pub really want that on their hands?!

you did the right thing. it was immature of him to do what he did. he was being a nuicance so it was better that he was gone!
