Skin Graze
1 Answers
I have a bad graze that's taken off the top few layers of skin from the fat bit of hand just beside my thumb so it's raw.
It was beginning to heal but a top layer of skin like stuff has formed in a yellowish-brownish-green colour. Underneath this layer (if i rub it really hard it begins to tear off) is normal raw skin.
Is this infected or just a defence mechanism? And if I went to a doctor/nurse, what would they do?? Would they give anti-biotics Would they scrub it?
If the latter is true, would they give some local anasthetic or what?? I have quite a low pain threshold.
Thanks.

Wash off as much as you can of the yellowy browny colour and put some lightly salted water on, not a cream, as it won't dry up properly with cream on, it will just go gooey. It will STING but that is good ! Keep putting lightly salted warm water on it, or you could also use Tea Trea Oil as that won't sting as much, but anything at this stage will sting a bit . It will gradually dry up, best to leave it uncovered as much as possible, no use going to doctor. Just keep it clean and dry and use antiseptic/salt water. You could ask a pharmacist but they will only sell you something you don't really need. It will eventually dry up and heal. Good luck.
