hard skin on leg...
5 Answers
years ago, i got a big scratch/graze wound on my leg...not deep but i picked at it and now 20 -odd years later i am left with a circle about the size of a penny, of hard like - like you get on your feet!
its right on the front of my leg on the shin bone...the doc said no point in cutting it out as it will still leave a mark
i have on occasion picked it until all the hard skin has gone, and its bleeding, ive sanded it, ive put betnovate on it etc etc...hoping to make it turn back into normal skin...obviously it hasnt
so has anyone else got an ideas to get rid of this?
i wouldnt mind so much if it wasnt a differnt colour too...sort of light browny colour
thanks

My wounds are a pinkish/silvery colour - they no longer look angry and painful, but they are annoying.
I think that all you can do is to try and diminish the damage. Bio Oil has a good reputation for working on such war wounds. I hope that it works.

Flexitol is a product used for reducing or minimising hard skin on heels, you apply it twice a day religiously and it works brilliantly I have used it many times on old ladies heels that were so badly split they couldn't walk, the hard skin completely disappear and returned it to normal soft skin again, I ain't no Dr but I don't see why it wouldn't do the same for you, it takes a few weeks to show the effect but worth a try, you can buy it readily in any Pharmacy.
I am about to post a product very similar to Ratters (sorry Ratter). I have actually found this much, much better than Flexitol and it works quicker. You can also buy the same brand as a cream but the balm has a higher quanity of urea which is the magic ingredient. I can't see any medical reason either for not using it. It works on cuticles as well.
Don't use Betnovate any more!! It should be used with care because prolonged use can damage your skin and thin it!
