Although there is an element of Scottish there, what is the rest of Christine McGurty's (BBC science correspondent) accent from? I've never heard anything like it before and there's no page about her online.

I can't mind on what like she sounds but her surname's spelt McGourty so you may find out more about he using that spelling.

Thanks corbyloon, there are numerous official sites spelling it my way so I assumed they were right. Hopefully there may be some information under the proper spelling now.
