In Coronation St. Audrey's Rita's and Gales hair is immaculate first thing in the morning till last thing at night not a hair out of place.Wish I had their time to look like that first thing in the morning. There is no way Rita could get her hair like that and open the shop early for papers .

Don't you think it must be down to the actors' vanity?
It gets me how a landlady like liz never wears the same outfit twice, or how the factory girls can afford to have their nails done regularly.
And what about Michelle's plastic hair do? That is obviously looked after by a top stylist, and not something her character would be able to afford or keep so perfectly.
It all started way back when bette Lynch got all la-di-da and started wearing ridiculous outfits in the bar - Frank Usher etc. They were more akin to what the character would wear at a wedding!

I agree about Rita & Gail but I think Audrey's hair is awful, it really needs a re-style. What always amazes me though is when they rush into the salon because they desperately need their hair done (when they clearly don't) & it never looks any different!
I remember Ena having a permanent hairnet but I don't think she had curlers in underneath did she? Hilda often had a couple poking out in front of a turban, haha.

Audreys hair looked lovely when she had it done to meet Gails dad, sort of swept away from her face. All the hairdressing salon girls I've seen seem to change their style perpetually to keep up with current trends, Maria hasnt changed hers in a good year! and I agree with Robina - anyone who goes to have their hair done there always come out looking the same as when they went in!
There's no easy way to break this to you, wendilla, but the main reason why this is so is because this is a TV programme and not real life.
There probably is no way that anyone can get their hair to look so immaculate at 5am. However (and heres the secret) the actors concerned are not really up doing the papers at 5am! I know it seems incredible but in fact, theyve had a make-up artist and hairdresser working on their appearance for some time before they shoot the scene.
I have it on good authority that most actors in most productions go through this routine.
Unbelievable isnt it ?!?!?!?!

LoftyLottie - you have made my day. I am typing this quickly because I can hear a loud rushing noise in my ears, and I know my vision is going to go at any moment ...
Robinia - can we have a cupboard big enough to lie down in please? With a bed please? and a lock on the door please? And a saline drip and a nurse onstandby please?
OK, thanks.
Carla ..... can you just ...
(door closing quietly, and key being turned ...)
