Hi Miss-Ladybug :o)

It is quite scary and creepy, esp the twins! It is a good film tho and you should watch it if you dare to! Is there no-one you could watch it with?
Failing that watch it with the lights on!
Oh yes the twins really scared me the first time I saw the film too.
Scary film!!! Tape it & watch it in the day! ( I'm a wimp too! )
It's an absolute must-watch. Nicholson at his very best!!!

(But watch it with the lights on as ~Wingnut~ suggests)
I watch scary films in the mornings, followed by Tom and Jerry.

Works for me. :)

It is like
Blood + Gore scary
Jumpy Bits scary
Phycological scary
or just plain Creepy scary?

A bit of all those Miss-Ladybug really lol Has a few jumpy scary bits in it especially towards the end, a little bit of blood and gore but not much that I remember. A LOT creepy & psycologically (sp?) scary!
Yes it's not so much blood and gore but certainly some jumpy bits. You'll love it.
Scariest bit for me was that naked old woman....

O_O

AHHHHHHHH!! You are scaring me already haha
It was directed by Stanley Kubrick who was an excellent director who made quality films like 2001, Lolita and Spartacus.

It is not a cheap "gory" horror with lots of stupid monsters and pointless killings.

It is more of a phycological thriller with the tension being built up slowly.

There are one or two scenes with blood, but most of it is phycological. It is creepy scary and has a few jumpy bits.

I would watch it as it is a very good film and Jack Nicolson is excellent.
I think it is scary, but that's because of the surreal atmosphere rather than the 'jump' moments, of which there are only a couple.

If you suspend disbelief easily, and get drawn into films, it will be pretty scary, but if not, then it is a very intersting piece of film making.

Let us know what you think.
BOO!
i didnt think it was at all scary, maybe abit eerie but nothing jumpy/give you nightmares stuff

You made me jump billy! :O

Well it does sound very good, i will keep you noted if i do watch it lol
The film is a must see, it is really well made film and is very eerie, without being too scary! they don't make films like this much anymore, it definitely plays with your mind!

Watch with a pillow in front for security and something to hide behind!
It is three horror movies in one.

The actual "shining" is fairly irrelevant to the overall plot really.

In my opinion, not at all scary, but very, very watchable.

I disagree with Dave above and state that Nicholson has never bettered "One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest".
