Red nose night . . .

Have I lost my sense of humour or has comic relief?
I am a big supporter of this charity but I think they have lost their funny bone this year.
Their recorded pieces however are beyond tragic and touching.
All the big ones, Royle family, harry hill, french & saunders - were all more than a bit disappointing in my opinion. The only one that I laughed out loud at was Smithy talking to the England team (and I know nothing about football!)
Any thoughts?

I lost interest in this a while ago, last year for sport relief they had a swimming contest involving a sumo wrestler, as soon as he stamped his feet there was farty noises, cos fat people are flatulent are'nt they?
The liberalati talk constantly about bullying, but if a school bans red noses the media spotlight is turned on them, is it not bulllying to mock the overweight and to try and coerce educators into their program?
I remember reading in "Private Eye" about some of the projects funded by one of the B.B.C telethons, some questionable causes.
I prefer to give my donations that work all year round, not offering junkets to Africa for celebs and spotlights for celebs whose star is fading.

I thought it was just me.
I also found it rather unfunny.
Maybe because it is the same old crowd every 2 years.
Jonathan Ross, French and Saunders, Lenny Henry, Graham Norton, Little Britian etc etc etc.
I remember some of the early comic relief had older more experienced comedians like Ken Dood, Ronnie Corbett etc but it now seems to have been hijacked by the "alernative" brigade.
They have to realise that having Catherine Tate and David Walliams sitting opposite each other saying "computer says no" is not that funny.
Maybe they need to bring in a few different comedians to freshen it up a bit, it has all gone a bit stale.

The strange thing for me was that I usually enjoy most the acts that were on last night but I honestly didn't find the sketches funny.
They really did a much better job on the appeals though. There was very little repetition of the clips (which used to become frustrating) and they were extremely moving.

i think it's going through a transition...French & Saunders, Lenny Henry, etc were featured, but not the main attraction like they used to be, and there's no-one really outstanding to hand it on to
Whilst i agree it wasn't the funniest thing, i found it very watchable (i usually switch over cos it's so cringeworthy), and the variation of appeal clips was good too - not the same ones on a loop.
I did prefer the way it was presented this year, I think David & Davina did a cracking job...tho Alan Carr seemed well out of his comfort zone and Fern Britton just made my teeth itch!
the England football sketch was extremely funny...and i think maybe they should look to the likes of James Corden, etc, for ideas for the next one. Comic Relief is 21 years old and i think it's time for a next generation to take over and give it a make over.
