what's the scariest movie ever made?

'The Tenent' directed by, and starring Roman Polanski. If you don't know what the word 'paranoia' means, you will after you've watrched this!

For me it has to be Nospheratu (1922) Directed by F.W. Murnau.  The scene where the cadaverous vampire rises jerkily from his coffin gives me the shivers every time I see it.  Also there is a scene in The Shining (1980) Directed by Stanley Kubrick, where an apparition of an old lady rises from the bath in a similar way, which scares me rigid no matter how many times I see it.

I have never really been scared by any movie, especially nowadays. When I was ickle though, I had countless nightmares after seeing The War of the Worlds (1953).

Also, nothing is scarier to a kid the werewolf in Michael Jackson's Thriller - oh and the Child Catcher in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

I must admit, I find it very difficult to think of a movie that would scare me now that I�m all grown up.  But I will say that I found Ring & Ring 2 (Japanese versions) really quite unnerving.  I think it�s because I first saw them before all the hype kicked in, and certainly before that naff American version was released.  I knew nothing about the films before hearing Mark Kermode talking about them just before they were shown on channel 4 a couple of years ago.  Director Hideo Nakata uses long periods of unsettling near-silence to create an atmosphere that keeps you on edge throughout the movie.
