Whenever I hear the word kids I think of my mate who once told me she hates anyone describing children as kids as they are not young goats. I always try to avoid that word now when around her. Is there any word you hate people using. For me its got be other half, hate it, hate it, hate it
Some people on here have the confidence to use a photo of themselves as their avatar and I really admire that as I don't have any. Some of them are gorgeous - ttfn in particular
doesn't mean they aren't beautiful! i love dandelion 'clocks' and refuse to remove them from my garden as they are fascinating and fun. i always pick them, blow away the seeds and make a wish. if you get out into the great british countryside and revel in all the plants, some of the most lovely are considered weeds/pests. but they remain and make the landscape lovely...x
Whatever you do ttfn - don't lose the hairnet - it'll ruin your street cred. Just thought of another word I hate - people who say loose when they mean lose:
"I always loose my keys"
"I must have lost weight - my trousers feel lose"
You have just brought back one of my childhood memories stone - revel in the plants indeed. I was at Maiden Castle in Dorset and decided to run down the slope from the inner ring to have sufficent impetus to get me half way up the slope of the next ring. I slipped on my first step and rolled down to the bottom (this was way before the days of It's a Knockout) into a huge bed of nettles. I had the worst case of urticaria you could imagine - even my eyeballs were stung. I had to go to hospital to get sorted out. Wonder I have made it thus far!
ttfn - i had a similar experience, only it was my older brother shoving me into a great big patch of nettles. out of love, of course! i can also remember trying to pick a section of a fern - you only do that the once! x
When watching Jeremy Kyle in the mornings * i know sad* there are quite a few people who use the word treat which is correct but go on to say they were tret ARGH it really does my head in
I know Prudie, I'm not brilliant with grammar and spelling but mistakes (especially when spell checker would be available and even more so when things should be proof read) really annoy me. In the local paper recently a man was 'dissipointed'!
i don't like the word nice. its just boring. i also have a real thing about people that use lots of cliches like 'at the end of the day' or 'with all due respect' before they say something really disrespectful! :)
