Mmmm! Iwatch reality shows all the time but I must say I don't remember the name Street Mate. I do however remember D M doing some Saturday show in 1999.
Perhaps that was it.

basically it was dating in the street, she would have a girl there and find a bloke on the street for her and shout really cheesily at end 'street mate'

The one I was thinking of was some sort of challenge show, & I think it was on ITV ! but then I think it was known as 'channel 3'. - In fact it wasn't long after her "getting clean" one of her first big breaks. I must admit I didn't like her much then either.
She's grown on me.
