Looking for the name of an old TV movie

I watched a movie about 25 years ago. It was about a girl named Miranda whose mother died when she was little and the mother wrote a letter to be given to her when she was much older. That's pretty much the story line. I had never heard the name before and I was pregnant. I liked the movie so much that when my baby was born, I named her Miranda.
