It looks like something you'd get in a little girls make up set..
She will never have a mother in law. I should imagine it was something that both of them talked about and both of them wanted. Me, I wouldn't want an engagement ring at all!
I know that ring is very special, and so was princess diana, but I dont really think its such a good idea with Kate having it as her engagement ring though --- no
considering who the mother in law was and the value of the said item, I would feel honoured.
It's not just any ring, or any mother-in-law, I can't hand on my Mum's engagement ring as she was buried with it, but it would have been a very emotional thing to do and ant girl that accepted it and felt the deep importance of it would be good enough to be anyones daughter-in-law in my opinion.
Sadly Redman didn't have his late mothers ring... but I would have felt incredibly privileged to be offered something so precious...but diana's ring isn't just carats it is the weight of history...that is a different thing so no...put it in a museum....
me too cazz. I think it's a lovely gesture from William - both emotionally and in sentiment.
it's an heirloom of the family she's marrying into; people from old families often do that sort of thing. The idea that you have to have everything brand-new is just consumer-society brainwashing.
After the sad marriage and tragic death of Diana, I`d be superstitious and think it was an unlucky ring.

pusskin, diana was special? dont make me laugh
plus it takes care of the something old something borrowed and something blue in one fell swoop, tell you what though, wouldn't be too surprised that she wears a copy and the real one is locked away after the big day.
I agree with you Dotty. A very meaningful emotional thing, especially in the circumstances. Must mean a lot to Charles and because of that would be very special to Kate. For him to give that to her to me means a real token of love.
Why wasn't she special??
I would agree with you about Diana Gina. However, she was special to William and that is what matters. What we think of her isn't relevant.
I wonder what camilla thought ? i think its lovely for william to give his bride to be his mothers ring , hope it brings more happiness than what dianna had
Question Author
why was she
I believe that William may think that Diana was special...........regardless of what those who had never met her think.
how about a brand new argos dimonique ring, better?
Question Author
i agree lofty, as are most mothers
She's the Mother of the future King of England....makes her a tad 'special'
