i believe william said anew chapter , or some such words, well i dont think giving kate his mothers ring is that
Question Author
oh really, if you think so then thats what matters
what would you prefer then gina? a big expensive ring so you can moan about the monarchy wasting money?
I want to give you my dead mothers engagment ring from a loveless marriage.

CREEPY
it was still his mom and dad dave, im sure you wouldnt think of your parents in that way if they divorced subsequently
The only thing that would make me hesitant about it is that it really didn't bring much luck to it's previous owner or her marriage!!
Question Author
davethedog, well said. does there have to be a big expensive ring, how about his great grandmothers then, diana was hardly the picture of innocence was she
Did you know her Gina??
Question Author
didnt need to she made the world know her
Heirlooms have to be created somewhere, I've checked online and the ring cost about $65K in 1981, what would be it's value now? Anyone could buy that version and still can. But if the ring stays in the royal family for generations it will be a priceless antique in years to come.
Is it Diana, or the giving of the ring which irks you, gina32 ?
Are any of us the epitome of innocence? Are any of us faultless, perfect? Does anyone really expect our Royal Family to be? I would rather them be like the rest of us - with human failings.
I think it says more about William rather than her.

My Grandmother gave my wife, her rings before she died and after she had her own engagement ring.

I can see that I may be on my own here, but I think that an engagement ring is afantastic thing to give and it should be between two people.

Cazz maybe not my mum and dad or yours but his, and thier problems, are among the most publicised couples ever on the planet.

I do genuinely think its creepy or at least something makes it feel strange to me.
Question Author
i just think its a personal thing and I wouldnt want someone elses engagement ring, no what who it belonged to, just my feelings and i we all have our own feelings on it. i dont think diana was the angel who are all expected to think she is, not by a long chalk
I actualy shed a tear when William told the reporters that it was his late Mother's engagement ring. I thought it was a truly, deeply, meaningful gesture & because Kate loves William very much, I'm sure she will wear it with pride.
I don't think Diana portrayed herself as an angel.

I'm sure William and Kate discussed the ring issue beforehand, and agreed on it.
Question Author
im sure she will, i just wondered if people would be pleased if they had been given their m.o.ls ring, thats all
it would depend on why the fiance was giving it.
"I don't think Diana portrayed herself as an angel" No but the national press did.

If only Charles had grown a thin handle bar moustache and worn a black top hat eh?
