Foyle's War.
4 Answers
I watched an old episode of this on ITV3 and at the end Foyle's son, who was a Spitfire pilot had been taken off active duties and transferred to a non-combatant station.
The end scenes showed him getting into the aircraft, (as if it was his own personal transport) and flying off into the distance, tilting the planes wings in a salute to his Father and his Girl Friend.
In reality he would not been allowed to take a valuable aircraft from a combat station just to transport him to his new base. he would have been issued with an 'Air Ministry Travel Warrant' and sent on his way to catch the next train.
