I don't know if i am on the right page [i'm a beginner]. does anyone know of a freeview recorder?,the one i have one and it,s a pain in the neck, it freezes up and won't do anything, we can't even turn it off.when deleting a programme we have watched,it goes off with lights flashing all over, some programmes are not recorded because they are corrupt.I hope someone knows of a better one to help my sanity.

I think you'll be advised to get a Humax!

I have quite an expensive (new) Toshiba model, and sometimes it freezes. I also have a reasonably priced Digihome one (used to be downstairs) in my bedroom, which is great. I bought one for my daughter's bedroom, and it's so noisy!
I have a Bush BTU 250 DTR which I bought 2 years ago from Argos for just under £100 and have had very few problems. The only time it fails to record is if there is a signal failure, which is not the machine's fault. It is supposed to give 120 hours recording, but it is more like 150.
thanks for the advice sara, still no help for you joanne.
I bought a freeview DVD recorder last year. It`s LG and (most importantly for me) it`s multi-regional. I got it from Richer Sounds who are better at giving advice thatn Comet/Currys

Hi,the name of the recorder i have is Thomson.
If your question relates to a DVD recorder/player with built-in Freeview tuner then I have a Panasonic. This has been reliable so far. Manual took a bit of understanding but once I had it sussed it is OK.

Thank you all,i think it looks like being the Humax.
I have a Thomson freeview, took me a good three months to get to grips with it but now I fine. If mine freezes I find the best thing is to take the plug out of the wall, count to ten and then put it back, works every time for me.
I have two numbers for help to talk you through problems
08444 159159 AND 0208 977 6097 but its the 08444 number that actually talks you thru it.
Hope this helps, took me almost a year to get these numbers !

Mine is panasonic too, but get the one where you can record into the DVD recorder's memory, rather than onto discs. Soooo much easier but more expensive.
Do not buy a Hitachi - I have had to take them back within a month 3 times - and eventually got a sympathetic member of staff who said the only make with no complaints is Humax - so I paid extra and got that - no problems at all now.
mine is a humax and is very good.
