Heard a 1980s comedy on the radio tonight. They did a spoof broadcast from a future Britain.
In it the government were clamping down on overweight people.
How the audience laughed at the very idea of it.

I watched an old episode of Yes Prime Minister the other day. I watched an old episode of Yes Prime Minister the other day.

In it one of the ministers was making some suggestions on how to cut down on people smoking and he suggested a ban on tobacco advertising, no smoking in public places like buses and trains and restaurants, and an increase in tax to put people off smoking.

This was looked at with alarm by the Prime Minster and others, but since then of course all the things have come into place.
Funnily enough this is on the BBC web site today
