She is one of those people who adopts a 'radio' voice that is utterly unlike the way anyone speaks, ever. It's all swooping up and down the vocal scale in a style that Terry Wogan would blush at!
Sadly, a lot of BBC stations think individuals like this produce 'local colour' - which is the sort of snooty London-based patronising that gives local radio a bad name.
We have had a selection of thick-as-a-brick locally born presenters who appeal to a narrow pensioner listener demographic, and they keep finding them!
No sure what Paula's future on the station will be now - we wait with bated breath, but since this has made the nationals, I can't imagine the local bosses will be too impressed.
