Michael Ball On Radio 2

Oh dear, how bad is Michael Ball, sitting in for Ken Bruce? Hugely camp, constantly guffawing at his own unfunny jokes, talking about 'shout-outs', and seeming to revel in getting things wrong. Where are Zoe Ball and Claudia Winkleman?!

And i've just learned that the awful Vanessa is standing in for the pompous Jeremy, later. Thankfully i HAVE to go out for a couple of hours - perfect timing.

Radio Two does seem to be drifting in terms of its choice of presenters doesn't it?

I am not sure if Alan Carr and Melanie Sykes are coming back, but their dreadful laugh-fest was too awful to endure.

Similarly, Paul O'Grady (massively popular though he is!) with his vinegary old queen routine is really tiresome.

Add in Lisa Tarbuck with her increasingly random links, her increasingly swooping vocal pyrotechnics, and her 'giggle' which someone must have told her is 'appealing'.

Sarah Cox, the professional northerner who again has nothing of interest to say, and an irritating way of not saying it.

Michael Ball is far too luvvy and camp for a mainstream radio show.

Lord knows, there must by thousands of excellent presenters out there who could do these jobs - why do we get these weird people at our expense?

Couldn't agree more, Andy. And such a shame that they got rid of Huey Morgan and Bob Harris at midnight on Fridays and Saturdays and 'promoted' the awful Alex Lester, who seems to have no knowledge of, or interest in, good music. One other thing: has anyone else noticed that Jeremy Vine has started occasionally SHOUTING at random times for no apparent reason?

I stand corrected, it was Sarah Cox who handed over, not Zoe Ball.
I agree with much of what you say, andy, but i must admit to quite liking Sarah. Maybe because it's such a refreshing change to here one's own northern dialect being spoken on the national airwaves rather than the 'Sweaty Sock', plummy Queen's English or the 'Cor blimey, guv'nor' accents we are used to:-)

braniac - I had forgotten about Alex Lester - I think he sounds like is genuinely odd!

Remember Mo Dutta - now thankfully a distant memory! The BBC used to laude his 'dry' sense of humour - more like arid, as in absent, another one who used to ramble on in his own little world of weirdness. He was the sort of person who, if he started up a conversation with you in the pub, after three minutes you'd find a pressing appointment on the other side of town.

Jeremy Vine has developed a strange way of presenting, his speech fluctuates dramatically and his constant interruptions are most annoying. I only listen to Ken Bruce, so this week will be non stop radio 3.

Jeremy appears to be more interested in the noises in the background rather than what the person is saying. He was speaking to a dairy farmer when he asked what the noise was in the background. It was obvious what it was!!

I'm not sure I would use the word 'bitter' - I am certainly opinionated, but then anyone on here regularly knows that!

I have no particular choice in mind - I am not a big Radio Two listener - mainly because of their choice of presenters - my point is, with an entire world to choose from, it shouldn't be difficult to avoid the peculiar individuals they do hire - the late Sir Terry Wogan being another major candidate in my list of the vocally afflicted.

The only presenters I like on R2 are Simon Mayo and Mark Radcliffe. I rarely listen to the station as I find the music played is usually dull and I've heard it a thousand times before. Steve Wright should be throttled :-)

Radio 2 needs a big shake up. Ken Bruce and Steve Wright are well beyond their sell by date. Jo Wiley should be given Ken's slot. The music she plays is fantastic and I like her personality.

Oh no Zacs, you have reminded me of Jo Whiley!!!!

I spend days, weeks and months blissfully ignoring her breathy 'enthusiasm' and her silly studenty matiness, and the fact that Radcliffe and Maconie were booted off to make room for her!!!!!!!
