After his own court battle he hated women, and saw punishing Helen as a strike against his ex. Once this came out the other jurors would have seen through this and sided with the Eileen Atkins character.
Bet Kirsty does end up pregnant - no matter, she and Tom are made for each other. No, Rob won't top himself (more's the pity) he'll ferment in quiet and reinforce his 'right' to Gideon/Jack (poor kid). My guess is that he'll do anything (I mean anything) to have his son with him. Not sure about Rob's grasp on sanity at the moment and it looks as if Justin will sack him.
According to the Radio Times 'Justin proposes a start date that clashes with Rob's stoma reversal surgery'. Also 'Emma feels increasingly uncomfortable about accepting money from Rob for babysitting Henry'. Not sure about that, as Henry isn't going to go to Rob's again, is he? Unless it refers to previous times? We shall see.
From the scriptwriters' viewpoint, I suggest there's still a lot of mileage in the Titchener saga. Presumably at at some stage Helen will start divorce proceedings. That may raise again the matter of custody/access to Jack/Gideon. I think I read somewhere that Sean O'Connor said there are 30 years' and more of the saga to come. (Though of course that is now beyond his control)
