I notice that this is expected to be one of the places that an air bridge is announced to - ok folks, confession time - I have never ever heard of La Reunion and had to look up where it is!

It is also mentioned if you read reports of the Krakatoa volcanic eruption. So loud was the explosion in was said to be heard on the Indian Ocean islands La Réunion and Rodrigues as the "sound of heavy gunfire). Both these islands are more than 3,000 miles from Krakatoa.
Actually it doesn't look a bad gaff. I've been to Martinique (another French Overseas Territory, but in the Caribbean) and they seem to run things quite well there.
