Hi Erin
Most presenters do start out in hospital radio. I am head of training for our local station and I am proud to say that some of my trainees now work all over the countyr in various different stations including national BBC stations.
If there is not a hospital radio station near you (check out the Hospital Broadcasting association website HBA) then look for student radio at uni or college.
Also pester your local station to let you do voluntary work and get your name known. Also write to presenters and offer free help.
Hope that is ok and good luck. The one thing you will need is determination.
