Just playing the racist card?
13 Answers
I'm going to stick my neck on the block here but am I the only one who thinks that it is highly convenient that Shilpa has gotten into a blazing row with another housemate and it has now become a huge racist issue?
I'm sorry but as I see it, from the very start, race has been made an issue by both Shilpa and Jermaine themselves with their cozy little chats in the bedroom. Perhaps it is the way it has been edited but I've never heard any of the other housemates whispering about being white and how being white will make a difference to how they're seen.
As soon as Shilpa went in it was a forgone conclusion that if anything negative was said to or about her that the racist card would be played.
She does parade about the house like some kind of wannabe princess and she did lie about having only ordered the pkt of stock cubes. So what? The food is for everyones use not just hers because she was the one who requested them. I'm sure she has eaten food that others have requested without all this song and dance.
Why does it have to be that anything negative directed towards her is automatically put down to racism. Is it not possible that it has absolutely nothing to do with the colour of her skin but that she is just a right 'royal' pain in the ass?

Its hard not to have a go at someone different to you (colour, or anything) without seeming racist. They just find her annoying and when they loose it she gets up set and like u said "uses the racist card". i also havn't heard any racist comments made to her?
There is always an element of bullying on BB, Jade herself was a victim the first time round and what about Aisleyne and that other person whose name I cannot recall (the one with the red face who wasn't sure if she was male or female)!.
While I find bullying absolutely abhorrent and inexcusable and the perpetrators should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves (which they will be when they see the playback), this is bullying not racism. Lets get real people and get this in proportion.
When "horse face" Grace threw water at wotsername, some people thought it was funny, some were aghast. If that person had been of Asian origin it probably would have been perceived as "racist", but it was simply one person disliking another.
Let's just face the fact that wherever you come from you just won't get on with everyone in life.
But let's please STOP THE BULLYING! It's not clever and it can scar people for life

Totally agree twaflooers, and to think the carphone warehouse are pulling out of their sponsorship because of it, even worse!
Why are people taking this seriously, it is only Shilpa and Jermaine who have mentioned race.
Maybe she's using the racism card because she can't accept that its her they don't like, and wouldn't, no matter where she comes from!

I dont think it racism just BULLYING at a very childish level. It is school girl stuff. The three of them sat there Jade doing all the mouthing off while the other two sit there giggling. I remember this kind of S**T from school and it's not nice.
There are teenage girls that are probably going through the same sort of bully tactics at school and are wondering why ADULTS are acting this way.

I think calling an Indian woman "poppadum" is racist. I think saying Indian people are skinny because they throw up all the time is racist. I think saying "she cant speak English properly anyway" is not only racist but completely untrue. I also think calling someone "white trash" is racist but that term is a commonly used one in the states and doesnt seem to have the same connotations over there.
Its pathetic though how its racist to be guessing someones name and then joking about popadom, jade proberly dosn't even know what one is.. but like if a indian started guessing a English name like "Andrew Teabag" im sure 0.01% of the English population would give a flying f**k. Its just realy sad the way someone can be picked out for being racist by just saying "Shalpah Popadom".. people realy do need to lighten up.. over 20,000 complants. I didnt like the way Shalpah said that the british population are like Jade and when they called Jade white trash. Jade was brought up in poor English conditions and has done amazingly well to still be famous and known even if she became famous becuase she entered the big brother house, but she has remained known and is doin very well for her self. Shalpah was born into a well off family and area and is realy stuckup about it, she was bitchin back to Jade when they where having the arguement, then when Danielle went too appoligise the day after Shalpah said "I never said anything to Jade" she is either very stupid because they have video footage or just thinking she can lie her way out of it becuase "shes famous" and to be honest about less than 5% of England know who she is.
