Forgive my ignorance, who is Julia Bradbury?
Theres always been room for witty banter on the show .. both are extremely intelligent too.
Julia Bradbury does programmes about walking and is often on Country file. another possibility is the Fiona Bruce. Who does the Antiques Roadshow and is an Oxford Graduate.
oh no Julia is so serious.

Countdown is entertainment and education. Neither is exclusive to the other.
Haven't watched it since Richard Whitely died. Apparently even Carol Vorderman's gone too.
if we have a female presenter, do we need a male maths / letters person?
Great idea twirls!! Fed up of the fashion show! Now who?
Carol Vorderman for presenter!!!
Question Author
Are you suggesting the return of Carol Vorderman. After the way she was treated i
doubt very much she would want to return. I've got use to Rachel Riley and her
fashion shows.
Myleen Klass .,C Cole .But the only one and brilliant Matt Chapman
Another witty and erudite regular was Richard Stilgoe. Haven't heard or seen of him for years.
Must be dozens of maths graducates crying out for work. Carol started out with no TV experience. If you consider Julia Bradbury too serious what did you think of Richard Whiteley? Hardly a laugh a minute was he? What about Eddie Izzard????
No one will ever successfully replace the late Richard Whiteley
Carol Vorderman is not a maths graduate. She has a lowly degree in Engineering, albeit from Cambridge.

Richard Digence?
Mike, If you read my post....I did not say Carol had a Maths degree...just that there are loads of maths students out there...
Richard Whitely was droll. Some peoples humour is someone else's dead pam

I've a nasty feeling this programme is going nowhere. The idea is still good but presenters are lacking.
Question Author
I agree there will never be another Richard Whitley. He is still sadly missed. But I'd
still like the programme to continue if possibe.
Question Author
I don't really care who presents it as long as it keeps on running. I just enjoy
pitching my wits against the contestants. Need to brush up on my maths though.
Agree cupid, programme is good.

Am I mistaken that the first ones had 3 folks, one for letters, one for numbers and RW?

Having thought about it, someone like Carol Voderman could be an all-round presenter.
