Have just watched episode 1 of this programme about an estate in Kilmarnock

Druggies, criminals etc.....I guess it isn't a snapshot of Scottish life but it sure paints a grim picture

At times when they were focusing on Marvin and Buster I thought I was watching a Little Britain style spoof documentary

sadly, that is exactly how a lot of people live. It's not fully representative, because there are some perfectly average families who live in those estates too. I was brought up in a similar environment in the late 60s to early 80s but the difference was that there was lots of alcohol and gambling etc but not really drugs and also most people worked so they didn't have as much time on their hands to get into mischief.

It fascinated and scared me that these type of places exist!
