she threatened that she would divulge the death of the turkish person in the last series and bring downton abbey down with the scandal unless he went back to her (now he's inherited from his mother he's got a few bob). so he went back to her.....but not for long!

thanks ethandron - knew it was critical to the plot and missed the wretched scene! Ahhh can now rest easy and nod off to sleep recounting the story so far - wasn't it great?!!!!

How did Bate's wife know all about the death of the Turkish chap - I don't think we've seen Mrs Bates before have we? I don't know if its me, but there are so many storylines with lots of characters - I have a job to keep up .....I wish they had done a recap from the last series too, I've had to print it all off to read as I'd forgotten what happened a year ago!! Rivetting though!!

Ann86 - she explained how she knew, she said she went for a job at another house and was asked if the story was true, she asked them to tell her what they had heard and she would tell them if it was correct.
