I think the girl getting married had been living in southern Spain and got carried away with ideas. Plus, the drress lady is very keen to help develop ideas rather than saying 'don't be daft, have a little black dress'.

When asked she did explain she wanted to blow everyone away but as for getting the idea from Spain eh? Spain is not known for Palm trees or Pineapples. She probably saw an old mag with 'Carmen Miranda' in it.
