Why are the police and certain media scared to face facts?

Time and time we see the police fighting crime almost with one hand tied behind their back in case they are deemed to be racist.
Some of the media particularly the BBC seem to skirt around sensitive issues in case they offend certain communities.
It has even been reported that the Border Agency staff have to search a proportion of innocent white travellers entering Britain from the Caribbean, so as not to be seen as racist towards black travellers.
/// One official told inspectors he and his colleagues ‘specifically detained a number of white passengers’ from one flight so they could ‘show that white people were also being questioned’. ///

Out of all the passengers, I was the only one to get pulled for extra questioning and a search on every single flight. In those days, being white, with a black leather jacket, and tinted glasses was an obvious indication that you were a terrorist.
Ok make fun all you like, but these are disturbing facts that need to be addressed, disturbing enough for MPs to announce the launch next month of an inquiry into grooming.
/// In 18 child sexual exploitation trials since 1997 – in Derby, Leeds, Blackpool, Blackburn, Rotherham, Sheffield, Rochdale, Oldham and Birmingham – relating to the on-street grooming of girls aged 11 to 16 by two or more men, most of those convicted were of Pakistani heritage. ///
It would seem that not only the police but also the judge still refuse to class this a racist crime, even though some of the perpetrators themselves have admitted it is.
/// /// But the judge also made it clear that such an interpretation should not have too much weight placed upon it. "Some of you, when arrested, said it was triggered by race," he continued. "That is nonsense. What triggered this prosecution was your lust and greed." ///

I read the telegraph link only and came across this..'Stymied by political correctness, social workers, carers, police, lawyers and council staff all failed to protect those young Rochdale girls.
They were victims twice over. First, of the despicable men who traded and abused them, and second, of our well-meaning, foolish and deadly desire to avoid the issue of race at any cost. They deserved better.'
I don't think it's fair to say that the Police and certain media are scared due to racist issues, take for example Baby P and Victoria Climbie, the words above pretty much echo the failures surrounding their cases.
And I think your second part of the post raises different issues to the first part. The Border Agency and Police fighting crime?

/// It is only your interpretation that the victims were white because they were selected for their race. It is far more likely they were selected for their availability. ///
Perhaps the same could be said about the Stephen Lawrence murder, perhaps he was also selected because of his availability, that being he happened to be waiting for a bus.

No I don't think it is different issue, it is all part and partial of the same skirting around, treading on glass, over PC (call it what you like) treatment of sensitive racial issues that we have become all too accustomed to in this country.

Don't think so. The police surveillance suggested they were targeting victims who were specically black
//Norris was recorded by a metropolitan police surveillance camera boasting that he would use ‘two submachine guns’ in a plan to ‘skin a black ****’ and ‘blow their two arms and legs off’. //

I presume we`re talking customs and not immigration. Well they do pull black people more than whites disproportionately so I suppose they have to try to make a show of being fair. If you ever want to bring in too many duty-frees, thank your lucky stars if your flight gets in the same time as the Lagos. They won`t be interested in you at all. I see it all the time. Indians get pulled more often too. That might be because they always have loads of baggage though. But yes, I do think they go for black people disproportionately (even though they`re not from Caribbean flights).

My I am once again touching raw nerves again I see.
You could ask yourself the same question, at least I do not find the need to come on to AnswerBank in the early morning and also to sometimes sit up to the early hours, still typing out.
I enjoy AnswerBank but I could not see the point in being on AB at all hours.

Aog, the quote you give from the judge in sentencing is the judge refuting the complaint by the defendants themselves that they were picked on ,arrested and charged because they are 'Asians', with the suggestion that, had they not been, they would not have been arrested and charged. In other words, they are complaining of racism on the part of the police and CPS. That was not the reason for that. The reason for that, and for the sentences that followed, was that they were guilty of serious sexual crimes, motivated by 'lust and greed'. Didn't make any difference to the defendants' view: one yelled out exactly the same claim, calling the jury and judge racists.
Do you have any quote from the judge in sentencing which does support your assertion?

/// anotheoldgit i'm relatively new to AB but almost every post i've seen from you has been race related, thankully i'm going away tomorrow (away from this little island) so will not have to read anymore than this ///
Tough and judging by your questions they all seem to be female related.
But let me put you out of your misery without the need for you to leave this little Island, by making a suggestion, and that is no one forces you to come onto the News Section, or even read my posts.
You do not have to tune into the News Section but if you do so you will find almost everyone has a particular subject they choose to post on, that is of course apart from the AnswerBank Buzzards who hardly ever ask questions, but who just hover around ready to pick bones out of other's.
For example sp1814 will mostly post on Homosexual matters, and Gromit on ..... well we all know Gromit's pet subjects.
In a free speech society all are welcome, and this is what makes AB so interesting, because everyone should be welcome to enter questions on any subject whatsoever, just as long as they are legal and don't break the site's rules.
