Great shame for the dog, but, these dangerous breeds need exterminating.

I wonder if anyone had reported the dog previously though. If he was that dangerous, I would have been inclined to film him. It's a really sad story and being a dog owner myself, I feel so sorry for both parties.
perhaps she should have kept the dog under control. others in the article stated it had been aggressive and bitten other dogs and went for children. stupid woman. it's not really the poor dogs fault is it? it should have been kept on a lead and muzzled.
shame on the owner, who let him loose and didnt control him. All her fault the dog was stabbed to death. I would have done the same, if he were attacking my kids, or dogs. Others say he was always out with no muzzle, and she set him on people. I feel for the animals that are used in this way, and she used this poor dog.

I recently read an article in the paper stating owners give their pet dogs heroine to get withdrawal symptoms and attack more. Is this true? It makes me angry.
I love all animals but am frightened of dogs, is that normal ?
it is if you have had a bad experience, rev. as a child i was bitten on the face by a dog and still bear the scars. needless to say, i don't like dogs much, particularly those which are off the lead and out of control.
I was attacked by an alsation once, a guard dog on it's way to work, frightened ever since.
i'm not surprised, then. i can only relax around people i trust with dogs i can trust (and i can count those on one hand) x

Do you think the guy who stabbed the dog should have been punished in anyway?
Question Author
I mean any way
no.
have just read the story a while ago. All a bit odd. Dont understand why the guy went home to get knives, came back and stabbed the dog to death and was then released with no charge
Question Author
Yeah exactly Smowball. I don't think I could have left my dog while it was being attacked.
he was protecting his dog....the dog was off lead and out of control. i do not believe the female owners story at all. other people are quoted in the article saying she was a stupid dog owner. i feel sorry for the dog that died though - it wasn't his fault.
Yes I agree, its the dog I feel for.
it says clearly in the article his dog was badly bitten and he had tried punching and kicking the other dog off - an american bulldog is massive. the female owner clearly did not have control of her dog. so he went to get two knives as he thought it was his only option....and i kinda believe him.

What a horrendous way to kill an animal. It should have been euthanised humanely.
Sounds like the DM are siding with the "Mother of three".

Horrid as it seems, that's the only way he could save his own dog.
and it's humane for a dog to rip another to bits? the bloke used a last resort to save his much smaller, better behaved, better cared for dog. it's a crying shame he had to do it, but it is the female dog owners fault entirely. i would do the same thing if a dog attacked a member of my family or one of my cats.
