I only saw a trailer, and it pushed my buttons bigtime!
Having grown up with a father who wasted no opportunity to belittle me and erode my self-confidence and self-respect, I have no desire to watch another father and son do it for 'comic' effect.
Fair enough ummmm - I haven't watched it, so my comment is based entirely on a short trailer, but the trailer confirmed it is not something i am likely to enjoy, so it's not on my list.
Thank you for all your answers, I watched the programme and as always, thoroughly enjoyed it. I recently read the biography of Jack and his dad and they seem to be really close.
Andy - I'm sorry about your dad treating you like that.
Thanks Tizzi. it does mean that my daughters have won - I have gone out of my way to tell them I love them, and to affirm them as individuals at every opportunity while they were growing up.
