Well acted, beautifully filmed, but does anybody understand the plot?

Absolutely the best drama I watched last week (even better than 'Common' which I also thought was outstanding).

I don't think we're *supposed* to know what's going on yet. There's another seven episodes, and I'm sure the story will unfold at a leisurely pace.

And Maggie Gyllenhaal's British accent is faultless.

Well sp, I'm glad we aren't alone (4 of us watched last night). There was so much dashing about from location to location and period to period, so many characters with unclear relationships to one another. I'll give it another shot, but 6 more episodes like that I don't think I could stand.

Hugo Blick's 'The Shadow Line' was of a similar quality and the best drama series i have EVER watched on tv. That was a 7-part drama and things did not become clear until episodes 6 & 7 which is exactly how it should be. It is not a soap-opera in which every plot can be second-guessed, this is quality drama. Just sit back and enjoy the ride. Once all the pennies have dropped, you can buy the box set and enjoy it even more.

The BBC site with a link to the programme is very good, clarifies who's who and makes watching it easier. One question, was the taxi driver a part of the plot or collateral damage?

zebo; The whole of that taxi sequence was a blur to me, ( I blamed the wine :-) according to my Metro link above, it was Tracey Vornan (FBI) who was shot, did the taxi driver get plugged too? If so he had a very small part indeed, so why make him an American?

Khandro; i would hazard a guess that to be an agent with the FBI, you would have to have American citizenship. Hence the American cabbie.

Zebo; the cabbie was obviously part of the plot, but only in a minor role and therefore expendable.
