aarrgh I am just about to leave for work and have put my slow cooker on for the first time but I can't find the instruction book.. It seems to have heated up quite quickly is that right? I have it on the low setting.

It's a long time since I used one but I seem to remember that you had to heat the ingredients of whatever first, then put in the slow cooker OR put in cold and the slow cooker would heat the ingredients itself and then revert to the low, slow heat.

Don't panic.It will be fine.It cannot burn.I use ours all the time at this time of the year and have done for the last thirty years and have never had a disaster yet.
If it is on the lowest setting it should be fine. You may just need to turn it up for a short while when you get in.

You were right ! It was fine .. I maybe should have put a fraction more liquid in but it was lovely ! Trouble it made enough for an army I will be having casserole forever, must get some freezer containers. Blimey I will be bleaching my nets next. Thanks for the replies and the link.
