Sisters and brothers

I heard on The Nation's Favourite lyrics a U2 lyric about only having one life to spend with our sisters and brothers. It made me very sad, because my sister seems to get great pleasure out of being as foul to me as she can. She is very bitter and jealous, and hard work. She has been like this now for 15 years, since getting with a nasty man who hates everyone! Can you believe he has refused to stay in a holiday home with me in the summer, so I am the only one in our family who has to stay in a guest house??!

If life is so short, why do some people insist on going through it being horrible to those they are supposed to love?

Because they are bitter and nasty like you said. Please please don't let them bring you down with them.

You can't choose your family, but you can choose your friends. If a friend treated you like that.. they wouldn't be a friend.. I am sure you have good friends who you can rely on and have fun with.

Oneday your sister will more than likely regret the way she is treating you but right now she is blind sighted. Just carry on with your own life and don't let them get you down. Remember that people like that thrive on the 'downers' they put on other people so dpn't give them the satisfaction.

Oh Scarlett, I was saying only the same yesterday, why are some people just so damn nasty and miserable for no reason! It's as if they get pleasure from doing so and I admit it used to really get to me, still does at times.
I think your doing the right thing by still going on holiday, there's no reason why you should miss out, which is prob what they would want by the sound of things. Say how lovely the place is your staying, keep dropping bits like "Oh I had a lovely breakfast this morning" .... "I slept like a log last night my bed was so comfy"...etc. Show their nastiness doesn't get to you :o)

I'm sorry I have no answer as to why people are like it, believe me I have spent hours worrying and wondering why, all I know is it isn't me with the problem.
I know I don't know you personally but from your posts over the past months I have the impression your a nice caring person, so dont let the ******** get you down :o)

Hi Scarlett...I agree with what everyone's said but what about the rest of your family? Dont they have any say in the situation ? To be quite honest if it was me I'd tell them to shove it and go on holiday with friends. How awful for you to be ostracised like that - who do they think they are ? Ooo I'm getting mad now !!

I agree that you do seem like a really lovely person and it never ceases to amaze me that some people are only happy when they're miserable.. You see miserable people at work in shops and restaurants and I reckon their days must drag so much.

Only the jealous can be spiteful and make the good feel like s**t,whatever your sister does or says she can't take away the facts,she will never have what you do,morals and consideration,that comes through in your post,keep them,you probably have her share,

Sorry, but I have to ask this. If it is him who has the problem with you staying at the holiday home then why doesn't he ship himself out to a guest house? If you refused to go elsewhere would he put up and shut up or would he go somewhere else? I think it's such a shame when families don't get on. I have 3 brothers and a sister and we are all really close. I'd be devastated if there was a rift. Good luck to you.x

Husbands are funny things, you should take a look at my post a few ones up Scarlett, I am going through the wringer with my only sister, whom I love. So I am always making an effort with my family, I am always the one to say sorry if things go wrong, but not on this occasion. Stick it out honey, we all do things we regret and its very sad, have you tried to talk one to one with her and truly find out what is wrong, there has to be a reason why she is being like she is, perhaps she needs someone to talk to ? Feel sorry for her Scarlett, try and have pity for her, hard that it may be. She MUST be being like this for a reason.
