i remember there was a program on a sunday night at about 7 or 8 o clock in the late 70's early 80's.(not sure of the channel, possibly ITV). At the end of this program the character fell off a ladder and i think he died.i was quiet shocked at the time but I was only 2 or 3 years old but it stayed with me for a very long time.
It has been suggested that this may have been the Dick Emery show. could this be?

I think you are referring to a prog called Sunday Night at Her Majesty's (theatre) on about eightish on a Sunday. Didn't get a long run like Sunday Night at the Palladium, but I remember watching when the great Tommy Cooper collapsed and fell on the stage. He didn't move and the audience thought it was part of his daft act and were in hysterics. The curtain came down and unfortunately that left only his huge shoes showing on the stage.

The sad part is we ahad all (live tv) just seen him die.

i remember that; it wasn't that.
The program was filmed outside and it looked like it was an window cleaner actually falling off his ladder.
