What was the name of the show in the 90's about a guy who got thrown into different characters in different periods of time in history. He carried or had a computer called Ralph(?) that would tell him where he was and why.He would appear as a hologram/

It definately sounds like Quantum Leap. The hologram was Al and was his partner in the real time. The computer was called Ziggy.

There was also Time Trax where the hologram was female,and a series of Timecop.
