Pregnancy after Miscarriage
I miscarried two weeks ago at 7 and a half weeks. Doctors have advised that i wait until my next period and then start trying again. But my husband and i couldnt wait.
If i am lucky enough to get pregnant before my next period how will doctors be able to confirm how many weeks i am as pregnancy starts from the first day of your last period, which will make my new baby the same age as the one i lost?
Also how soon should i test to detect if i am pregnant again? Are there any medical risks by not allowing a normal period before we started trying.
We got pregnant on the first try the first time round so the chances are i am already pregnant again.
Hope this makes sense, and advice or stories would be welcome.

if you have fallen prgnant then their will a rough estimate on the gestation until your first scan. obviously they know you werent pregnant straight after your sad loss so they would probably estimate a couple of weeks beyond that as a date of a period.
you ought to wait about 5 weeks after the loss at least before testing i reckon

I miscarried at 12 weeks and was told to have three clear periods before trying again. This gives your body time to flush out any debris with the period and also gives your hormones time to go back to normal. Even though I did wait for the three periods the pregnancy with my daughter had several problems and when she was born when the afterbirth came there was also more debris from the first pregnancy.
I am sorry for your loss and hope all goes well for the future.

Hi, i lost my baby and was told at my 10 wk scan my baby died 3 wks b4 hand, so i had a d&e and wa stold to wait b4 trying again. Since doing my nurse training i have learnt that once u have had 1 misscarriage u r at higher risk of another one and by not waiting a clear 3 months then u increase that risk even further.
After my misscarriage it took another 15 months to fall again, but i fell preg the first time after 5 weeks of meeting!
My advice to u from personal and medical experience is wait a little longer. Give ur body and mind to heal!
Its been 11 years this nov since my misscarriage, and i still think of my baby, and still have the positive preg test stick too.
Pregnancy take so much physically and mentally from u that u need to be in the best of health to give ur baby the very best start!! Look into all the info available online about concieving, read the books do ur homework!
Babies r so precious, anyone that had had a misscarriage will tell u that, and when u hold ur new baby it will be even more amazing!!
please do take the time to care for yourself and to grieve for ur baby, it really is so important!
Take care xx
