Hey Pasta - I'm an interior designer, but work freelance. I have a couple of projects on the go in Spain at the mo, so travel here when I need to. It's also a good opportunity to spend time with my dog, who lives here with my ex. Also, because the ex has been thru so much lately (his daughter died suddenly at xmas, and he's just had an op), I am doing my best to support him too.

That is one job that-if I was to do my working life over again,I would consider. Instead-I went from Grapic artist to craftsperson....to cook. I suppose they all have an element of creativity behind them.
I am so sorry to hear about your ex......life stinks sometimes.

It is a lovely job, Pasta, but sometimes I think I don't want to do this all my life. My family think I'm a good enough cook to open my own restaurant, but that sort of thing is really hard going in the current economic climate... unless you have swish premises in, say, Chelsea where very few people have had to make cutbacks.

The ex is learning to live with his grief, but yesterday we were given a poignant reminder. He gave me his checkbook with all his banking numbers so that I could do his online banking for him, and she had written, "Dad's account" on the front. The writing was like that of 4-year-old. She died of a brain tumour, so her vision and co-ordination was affected.
