interferance of ham radios
If there is a ham radio close by will it interfere with your T.V.?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.If he is transmitting on a faulty set or if he is using extra amplification, higher signal output or badly set up station it is possible you will get interferance from harmonics of his frequency. Your equipment could be susceptable to atmospheric interferance due to lack of filtering ie; when tv's are made there are filters built in to screen out frequencies above and below the frequencies it requires for you to watch your programmes, sometimes (although not so much tese days) they will leave out components to keep prices low.

I used to have a neighbour with a ham radio that he had "souped up" that badly interfered with my TV. I asked him if he could do whatever he had to to stop the interference and he refused. As it was getting so bad that I could hear his side of any conversation he was having I ended up having to report him. So long ago I can't remember who was prepared to take action (the council, I think). Apparently they had already received complaints and were particularly interested when I relayed his on-air boasts about how the inspector would never be able to tell that he had done <customization x> to his rig, so they wouldn't be able to prosecute.
