Another Question Sorry :/
As you will have already seen the charges have been dropped to section 39. You will also see that the defendant is joining the Army very soon.
I was just wondering if the punishment is likely to prevent him joining the Army could he and his brief appeal for a punishment that wouldnt prevent him joining the Army?
Or..
If for example he gets community service could he do all the hours in like 2wk or whatever so that he's had his punishment but can still join Army?
Sorry to be a pain =/

You will find that he has admitted a lesser charge of s39 common assault and battery. He will most probably get Community Service and it wont stop him joining the army as he could do it before he joins and I have heard of army recruits doing C/S whilst in training.

Chez, I haven't seen earlier posts about the charge being amended, but you might like to look at the Army website here - this particular question suggests that each application is looked at on its individual merits http://www.armyjobs.m...hacriminalrecord.aspx
One issue that he might need to explore is whether the army will still be prepared to take him if he is convicted. I don't know the answer but I'm sure an army recruitment website might give some info on whether criminal records are permitted.
