replacement for my beloved Alfa 147?

beloved... but costing me a fortune so it has to go :o/

so, I'll be borrowing £6-7k. I want something that will be a lower insurance group (this can't be difficult), small to medium hatchback, aircon, looks good, reliable, 2-3 years old max. something with a solid feel to it.

what would you suggest?

yup, skodas are the dogs b's - that's why there is 6 month wait for a deisel Octavia and over 9 month wait for a yeti!

lovely cars aren't they craft? we have the Octavia Estate - just had it about 3 months, it's lovely, black metallic finish, sports alloys and suspension, all the wee extras including built in satnav, aircon etc, we got the petrol engine as for our mileage there was no sense waiting on a diesel and paying the extra - we got a deal at the time of a 25% discount and all the extras thrown in and so it cost us only just over 12k - the VW or Saab equivalent was about £10-15K more!! It's no wonder skoda drivers are so satisfied!!!
