I know my MOT and insurance are due on same date, 6th July but I did my insurance online or on phone, and I have no idea who I'm insured with, and can't find anything on paper.
Actually, as I'm typing this I thought of going through last year's bank statements, but if anyone can come up with another idea I'd be most grateful.
Thanks.

Bank statements seem a good place to look.
Also if you did it online you surely used an e-mail address for confirmation?
If it's anything like my insurers Baths, you'll get a letter in the next few days saying it's time to renew and here is this year's quote which will make you fall over and then go scurrying for better alternatives. Hope you get it sorted.

Oh, does ask.mid tell you your insurance company too?

Didn't know that part of the check.

Yeah, thanks Captn,..I remembered that. Seems all I need to do to solve a problem is to write it down

Oh no....bank statement shows I paid £130 to DVLA, and £329 to Post Office Counters. The £329 is probably what I paid for insurance (yeah, I know, it's far too much)....but can't find a name.
Will have to wait till I get letter from them.

Yay!! It's AXA. Found it in folder named Yaris. Should have scrolled down a bit further :)

Got email from Axa. If I stay with them it's £267. Don't think that's too bad.
....it's not worth the time searching comparison sites to prob save £50, any thoughts?

It's always worth keeping a copy of your current certificate in the glovebox in case you have an accident and need to swap insurance details. It also helps with renewal queries
I think it is usually is worth the time searching comparison sites to probably save £50, although you also need to check sites such as Direct Line so you end up having to enter lots of information twice or more and it can take up a whole morning. Depends how much you value your time
The only way to stop the greedy bustards from overcharging us is to get quotes from comparison sites or directly, pick the best one and either switch or use the quote to get a reduction from your provider. I think they mark customers' files as easy or awkward as my insurer has offered competitive quotes recently after I've refused to accept their first offer with the threat of changing in the past.
Give Aviva a ring for a quote. They are often competitive. Also ring Axa and ask them to do better.

Thanks FF, but I value my time out of the house very highly, since depression keeps me out of it too often :)

If you get a quote from someone and don't accept it they will ring you up and will usually improve on it by maybe £20-£30 if you say you have had better offers. AXA will also ring and improve their price slightly if you don't renew quickly.

Thanks also to chiaro :)

Phone a local insurance broker and give them your details , then let them do the chasing round for you. Brokers are usually competitive with the internet now. After all comparison sites are just 'on line Insurance brokers'.
