i've had a 1998 toyota starlet from new and never had a problem.it's suddenly lost power on acceleration,but will still sit at 70 no problem until have to slow down,then takes ages to build back up.dies on hills.had rac out,been to numerous garages,including toyota specialist.all say can't find anything wrong.anybody had same problem.if so please help,i'm ripping what bit of hair i have left,out.Thanx in anticipation.

sounds like your clutch is slipping
all the same symptoms
but if you've had a garage look at it surely they would have gone through that?

the clutch was an option thanx,but it is now rectifeid.it was a smaall hole in a vacuum pipe ,that was allowing air to be sucked in.
