Improving a '96 Honda Civic

The wife has a 1996 1.5 Honda Civic. She finds that it is sluggish and that it dosen't handle corners too well. Other than buying a different car, are there any upgrades, improvements that can be added (at a reasonable price) to address her issues?

New car is unfortunatly the best way.

You could spend money on new wheels, tuning etc but nothing really makes a huge difference when thinking about a reasonable cost..

Bigger/wider wheels will slightly help road holding but will loose ride comfort and create treamlining on certain roads Make sure the new wheels size is near that of the original or the speedo will be out. Increase wheel size + lower profile tyres.

Lowering the suspension will also improve handling but turn the car into a boneshaker.

Induction kit / bigger exhaust only add a couple of HP and just make a louder noise.

These are the cheaper end of mods and not worth it.

Remember if you do mod anything you must tell the insurance company. They look for any reason not to pay out and a modification is an easy target.
