Problem with automatic gearbox.

Renault Scenic 11 Expression 1.6 v v t engine 54 reg.

The gearbox changes down late at low speeds causing gearbox to rattle. Has anyone else had this problem, and If so what was the cause and cure?. Several visits to main dealer has not rectified the problem.

Thank you MDOO 98 for your reply. The rattle sounds like a growl and happens mainly when the gearbox is on the verge of changing down at around 14 or 20 mph.Renault reckon this is because the computer for the gearbox can't decide whether my next action at those speeds will be to accelerate or brake so when I accelerate the computer gets caught out and leaves the box in the higher gear which causes the rattle.Renault claim that this is acceptable and are refusing to do anything to put it right. I need to know if anyone else has had this problem and if so what was their outcome.

Thank you Toureman for the forum address, have just caught up on the computer, we will certainly try this route if we can't get any other answer.
