Trade in or repair?

I have an s-reg Ford Fiesta which is needing about �900 worth of repairs. Shall I pay for this or trade it in (I'm willing to put up about �2000). I'm in a bit of a quandry about this so any advice would be apprciated.

if you spend the �900 it will still only be worth the same amount, so i would consider looking at a newer vehicle?

the supermarket type places offer good part ex prices on older vehicles?

i bought my last car from a main dealer that didn't offer a very good part ex price on our car so we sold it privately which was a pain in the backside?

what kind of price do you think I could get? I know it depends on the mileage etc.. but a very rough figure? And if anyone has any bartering tips then great!
