astra starting

i have a T reg astra 1700cc diesel estate. When you start in the morning the dignostic light sometimes flashes but if you take key out lock and unlock its alright it goes out battery light goes out and the engine heating light goes out but when you go to start it takes three or four attempts almost as if its pumping fuel from the tank but once its running it is ok, anybody know why
