to keep or to sell...

I have a 6 year old Alfa 147 and I love it but its value has sunk (as all cars do) and I can't decide whether to keep it or look for a new one. there's nothing wrong with it, but if anything should go wrong it'll be expensive, and then I'll be stuffed! I can't decide whether to part-exchange while it's running well. I know selling privately would be financially better, but that's too much hassle for me.

and I don't have a pot of money to just pop out and get a new one, btw!

any advice?

I must have been unlucky as Ive had horrible experiences with both Alfa and Hyundai which has put me off them for life.
What was wrong with them?
The Hyundai had a sunroof that leaked - folk at the bus stop were dryer than I was, and it was never out the garage and each time it was hundreds of pounds, cant remember all the faults but at one point I was gonna push the damn car into the Tay lol

The Alfa was electrical faults, there were lights that wouldnt come on and some which wouldnt go off. I had to take out fuses at night for the lights to go off, then put them back in before work and screw the panel up again, was a nightmare. The comfiest car ive ever had tho and it went like sh!t off a shovel.

I'm starting to think I should keep my Alfa.. it has none of those problems and all the good points!
PMSL!

You haven't had good experiences at all then!

For what it's worth, Heidi's sunroof doesn't leak, I really haven't had any probs with her.

Sharrap No Know.....x
you cant? or you dont like?
Question Author
I don't like... sorry! I was thinking of another Alfa, other possibilities were the Seat Leon, BMW 1 series, Golf.. a sturdy looking medium size hatchback.

hi sara,
It all depends on what you want. Alfa that's sexy, terrific styling but expensive and unreliable or something that is not quite as sexy but very reliable. I bet Weeal will testify that the Toyota is as solid as a rock on reliability. Would you not consider a Rav4? I think now is the time to change they will rip your right arm off for a deal now. The only problem you will obviously get a better trade-in with the Alfa dealer than any other. How do Saab grab you?
Youre right stompe, the Toyota is reliable and sturdy - also comfy to drive. Dont like the hatch tho, is up over the roof almost and I cant reach lol

Seat Leon would be excellent sara
I used to have a Saab 93 Viggen....I swear it's the best car I've ever had!
Lakitu, is that the one with the funny suspension thing going on?
Question Author
I like the look of Saab's but they're a bit big for my liking.

the Rav4.. don't you have to be blonde for that? ;o)
:o|
