The Escort does not have a fan belt, the fan has its own electric motor, like nearly all cars. The two most likely belts you could mean are alternator drive belt and the cam/timing belt. Alternator belt is easy and can be done without any diagram - just slacken the alternator mounting bolts so it can slide on the adjuster to loosen the tension enough to remove or refit belt. Cam belt more involved. A Haynes manual should give you the diagrams you will need.
