Insurance problem

My son is having great difficulty in finding an insurance company whom will insure his car because he has lowered the body and has alloy wheels fitted. His car is only an Ford Mondeo not a Ferrari so why is this. He is 40 years of age and never claimed or had any speeding or other convictions against his licence. Can anyone tell me of any insurance company whom will take it on? I and he would be very grateful, thank-you.
