Mercedes A - Class strange key

One of my family has just bought a V reg Merc A - Class and, apart from the usual ignition/door keys, it came with a strange, red, plastic key type thing. Does anyone have any idea what it might be for? It's not mentioned in the handbook.

Well hereby hangs the reason I'm rarely seen on AB these days.

NoKno was obviously banned (but not for anything he said here, he was nothing but helpful), hence 25% of my thread disappeared with him. Which means it now doesn't make much sense and makes me look stupid.

it sounds like an immobiliser key,if there is an appropiate slot hidden somewhere on or under the dash.

Thanks Hugh, I'll suggest that too.

The dealer has been contacted and they don't know either! I guess it'll become apparent what it's for when it's needed.
