Do cars traded in for scrappage have to be destroyed or are the real gems escaping

Thanks, I asked this question because a neighbour has a 1985 Mini that he has owned from new (26,000 miles) that might get scrapped, seems like a waste

If they come across a gem, some dealers are offering them to their local classic car club

Some of the bits and pieces are removed for reusing but as CF said, for the dealer to get their �1000, they need to scrap the car
